These are specific compounds which, together with some active ingredients make up a product that stimulates the olfactory sense of the animal.

The acceptation or not of a feed is, first of all, conditioned by the olfactory sense. In livestock nutrition, this is a way to control the necessary feed intake at different stages of the animal’s life.

Some of the advantages of such flavouring is that they help avoiding the stress caused by changes in raw materials in a formulation. In young stages of the animal, these flavouring enhance feed intake by stimulating the curiosity of the animal.
